Abstract


VIOLENCE BY PATIENT / RELATIVES AND HEALTH WORKERS TO EACH OTHER: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Objective: It is the review of the cases of violence that patients, their relatives and healthcare professionals have applied to each other, published between January 2015 and December 2020, and the systematic analysis of the data obtained. Materials and Methods: 612 national publications on the phenomenon of violence used by patients, relatives and healthcare professionals against each other have been reached. Using the Google database, all of the studies between January 2015 and December 2020 were examined and 56 publications that were eligible for the inclusion criteria were evaluated within the scope of the study. All publications have been systematized and analyzed in terms of study methods and findings. Results: In systematized studies, verbal violence against healthcare professionals is high, violence is most commonly used by patients and their relatives, patients and relatives who use violence and their relatives evaluated communication skills as insufficient, and those who are exposed to violence after an attack are mostly unwilling to go to work, leaving the profession. It has been determined that inadequate coping mechanisms such as desire to be used. Conclusion: It is thought that defining and strengthening the communication skills of healthcare professionals will be beneficial in preventing the increasing violence in the field of health as in every field.
