Abstract

RISK ANALYSIS WITH FINE KINNEY METHOD IN FORESTRY PRODUCTION STUDIES

Occupational health and safety studies are carried out with the aim of protecting employees from occupational accidents and occupational diseases and providing a healthier environment for employees. As a result of accidents, employees, employers and the country's economy are faced with material and moral losses. In order to eliminate all these problems, systematic studies should be conducted and a risk management system should be established. Forestry activities are in the Heavy Work category according to the classification of the International Labor Organization. The reason for this is that all personnel working in the works work under serious risks arising from the workplace conditions in which the work is performed and the nature of the work performed. Wood raw material production activity, which is one of the most important of forestry activities; harvesting of trees, transport from the forest to the roadside and transport to the warehouses with vehicles on the road consists of three main stages. In this study, 76 hazards already present or likely to occur in forestry production activities; literature studies, study site observations and experience in working life were determined on the basis of. The risks identified by these identified hazards are explained and the risks are analyzed by using Fine-Kinney risk analysis method and the measures to be taken to prevent these hazards are listed. After taking the necessary measures, the hazards in the category of very high risk and high risk were analyzed again and their final status was determined by determining the risk levels. In the last part of the study, opinions and suggestions were made in order to take necessary occupational safety measures in forestry production activities and to improve working conditions.
