EXAMINATION OF STUDY LESSON APPROACHES OF NURSING STUDENTS

Purpose: This study aimed to determine study lesson approaches of nursing students students. Method: This study is a descriptive, cross-sectional study. The study was performed in the nursing department offaculty of health sciences at a state university in the 2019-2020 Spring Semester. The population of the study consisted of undergraduate nursing (n=811) students. Sample selection method was not used. All students (n=502) who volunteered to fill out the questionnaire were included in the study. Data were collected with a student information form and Study Process Questionnare (SPQ). Data were analyzed with numbers, percentages. mean, standard deviation, Independent Samples t-test, One-Way Anova, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests Results: The mean age of the students was 20.41±1.64 years and 83.7% of them were women. When the mean score of the Study Approach Scale was compared, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between age, gender, class, economic status, current place of residence, working environment and possession of study materials. The superficial motivation of students over the age of 21, male, studying in the third grade and staying in the student house was determined to be higher. It was seen that students with good economic situation and suitable working environment adopted the deep strategy, and students who had helpful study materials had better deep motivation. Conclusion and recommendations: Although the deep motivation levels of the students included in the study were low, it was determined that they preferred deep strategy and deep approach in their study. It is recommended that the study be repeated in a larger sample group
